Young Silver Gulls, Norway

Walking at the quays of the Gulf of Pipervika in Oslo I noticed gulls on the small size and unusual coloring.

It turned out that these are ordinary silver gulls, but very young.

Until the onset of mating age, young birds retain their nesting color, making them invisible among rocks and rocks.

In the fourth year of life the birds wear a mating outfit with pure white plumage of the head and neck.

The same gulls, but even smaller in size, I saw in Trondheim.

The mating season for gulls in these areas begins in late April, and by August, the new offspring are already leading an independent life.
